My relationship with the media changes constantly. I feel like the media is so flexible and so controversial that it can be used for many things that are not always beneficial to consumers and their society. By definition, media is the main means of mass communication (especially television, radio, newspapers, and the Internet) regarded collectively. Though the ways of communication with the public vary, they seem to all have one goal in mind; to turn "people" into "consumers" and to ultimately alter the way they see the world around them, and the way they comprehend the many components of their lives and of their society. Though the media is often displayed in a negative light, I feel that it can also be used for good, but is often not. If the purpose of media is to provide a way to transport ideas, then why is it so often found transporting non-constructive ones? What is to prevent us from transporting ideas that will help us progress as a productive society? Through this media blog I hope to delve deeper into the many forms of media, and further analyze the way the average American adult spends an average of 11 hours of their time (provided my the Nielson Cross-Platform Report).
